Valerie Hurst

Valerie Hurst came to KIMA Action News in spring of 2005 as a reporter and weekend anchor. Now you’ll see her anchoring KIMA's weekday newscasts at 5:00 and 6:00 pm, but she still hits the streets every day to find the stories most important to you.

Valerie is a Boston native and Boston Universtiy grad. She used to consider herself an east coast city girl but now enjoys the incredible mountains and easy-going nature of the Pacific Northwest. She especially loves how much easier it is here to “pahk ya cah.”

KIMA is not Valerie’s first TV job. In 2004, she joined CN2 News—a cable station in Rock Hill, South Carolina . There she reported, filled in as anchor, and did short segments for sister station WBTV in Charlotte, North Carolina . After eight months she made the 3,000 mile road-trip out west and the rest is history!

When she’s not shooting video on the job, you might catch Valerie snapping photos around the valley. She enjoys spending time with her new west-coast friends. She also helps out at the local Boy Scouts.
