From there Melissa moved to Grand Junction,Colorado to anchor the 5, 6 and 10 pm news. Within a year she took the morning anchor job at WILX in Lansing,Michigan. A year later she moved to the mid-day shift and then was promoted to prime time where she anchored the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. news for almost eight years. Melissa took a break from television in the fall of 2001 and worked as a news director and morning co-host for a Lansing radio station. Following a move to Texas, Melissa worked as the executive director for the TriCounty Agribusiness Association, promoting the agricultural industry in a three county area.
